Here is the lab worksheet if you haven't bought the book, yet: Worksheet3and4.pdf
Lab 3
We'll discuss classification of things-not-animals: fungi and plants. We'll look at some slides and try to classify some trees using leaves. We'll draw some more, things like flowers and yeast.
Be sure to print out the Honor Pledge if you don't have a lab manual yet, you can print it out from the blackboard website. Sign it and bring it in before Wednesday.
Mini-lecture notes:
- We looked at fungi and plants, and observed and read about different traits that helped the organisms survive or helped the organism reproduce.
- How do we classify fungi and plants? What kind of traits are unique to fungi? What kind of traits are unique to plants?
- What kind of plants did we examine and classify? What characteristics did we talk about that distinguished the different kinds of plants (Bryophytes/mosses, ferns, gymnosperms, angiosperms)?
- You used a key to identify trees, based on traits unique to each species.
